A Little More Information – Child Guardians, Inc.
Child Guardians, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to meeting the needs of abused, neglected, and abandoned children in NW Florida (Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties). There are approximately 2,000 children (ages 0-18) eligible for services at any given time.
100% of funds donated to our Brandon Fund are dedicated to meeting physical, emotional, health, social, and academic needs. Professional case workers, managers, social workers, and trained volunteers identify children who have a need that can not be paid for through any other resources. An examples of a recent successful venture follows:
A high school, female, freshman, who was abused and neglected, is living in a foster home. She is need of a significant amount of dental work. Her teeth are crooked, badly discolored, and there are gaping holes where permanent teeth have fallen out. Medicaid is paying for basic dental care, but will not cover the additional work needed. The foster parent and a Guardian ad Litem report that because of the dis-figuration, the girl is not participating in school, not making friends, having health problems, and mumbles when speaking. Child Guardians steps in to cover the entire amount of the dentist bill. Over the next few months, there is a significant improvement in the girl’s physical health, emotional relationships with his peers, AND academic performance at school.
